15:00, June 17, 2011
With their information network communication rights violated, China Encyclopedia Publishing Co., Ltd. brought Apple Electronic Products Trade (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Apple to court. This is the second alleged infringement encountered by Apple. It was informed that the Beijing Second Intermediate People’s Court has accepted the case.
China Encyclopedia claims that it found in October 2010 that after downloading and installing iTunes software from the website operated by Apple Electronic Products Trade (Beijing) Co., Ltd., users can access a large part of "China Encyclopedia" via App Store and read it on iPhone and iPad products. The plaintiff believed that the two defendants’ acts seriously violated the plaintiff's copyright, requesting the court to order the defendants to immediately stop infringement and compensate for economic losses and reasonable expenses totaled 535,200 yuan.
