Uncontrolled Use of the Symbol of Culture Heritage Will Be Banned

Recently, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Standardization Administration jointly issued the recommended national standard of the “Symbol of Chinese Cultural Heritage”, providing the form, content and ratio of the symbol of Chinese cultural heritages which takes Sun Bird as the prototype. The standard will come into effect on April 1, 2011 and from then on the disordered use of “Sun Bird” will be standardized.

The standard defines both the Chinese phonetic and English forms and compositions of the symbol, stipulating the color and the background color when in application as well as accurately describing the various elements of the mark.

The symbol of Chinese cultural heritages takes the Sun Bird unearthed in Chengdu Jinsha Ruins in 2001 as the prototype of the main body. The graphic symbol released by the Administration of Cultural Heritage in 2005 is now widely used in cultural heritage protection, news, publications and some commercial sectors.
